Bucket List/Goals

Thoughtful Thursday.

I decided I needed to start having uplifting quotes to read often, and hang in my room to read throughout the day and in the morning when I start my day. I have always wanted an office with one wall filled with my favorite quotes one day ūüėČ Here are just some of my favorites that I picked out to share¬†from Marjorie Pay Hinckley. I absolutely love her. She was such a inspiring and funny lady.

“As you create a home, don’t get distracted with a lot of things that have no meaning for you or your family. Don’t dwell on your failures, but think of your success. Have joy in your home. Have joy in your children. Have joy in your husband. Be grateful for the journey”

I think this one always hits me in the gut when I read it and will always be one of my favorites. I need to have this hung up all through out my house. I defiantly have moments where I get caught up worry about all the wrong things. Don’t get me wrong I love to look and feel good about myself, my home, etc. but sometimes it is all to overwhelming. I love material things just as much as the next girl, its the comparing myself that is hard on me. I always see (Instagram posts) of mom’s doing so many fun things with their kids and I think taking Emmitt on a walk gets me a gold medal for getting out of the house to do something other than grocery shopping or errands. I feel that I am most happy (and so is my family) when we are spending our time together for the moments that your having so much fun that your forget to take pictures to post on Instagram.

“Be kind. Everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle.”

This is so true. I feel like a lot of these quotes go hand in hand. You truly never know what someone is really going through. Everyone is also so different, what might be a challenge for one person might be easy for another.

“The only way to get through life is to laugh your way through it. You either have to laugh or cry. I prefer to laugh. Crying gives me a headache.”

This couldn’t be any more true. I wish I was more of a let loose type of person that can just go with the flow and have fun. But im not. I get stressed and overwhelmed very easily. I hate it. I need to learn to relax and laugh moments off. Crying always gives me the worst headaches.

“The trick is to enjoy life, dont wish away your days waiting for better ones ahead. The grand and the simple, they are equally wonderful.”

I. Suck. at. this. I am ALWAYS thinking in the future that I forget to enjoy the now.

“I know it is hard for you young mothers to¬†believe¬†that almost¬†before¬†you can turn around the¬†children¬†will be gone¬†and¬†you will be alone with your husband. You had better be sure you are¬†developing the kind of Love and¬†Friendship¬†that will be delightful and enduring. Let the children learn¬†from your attitude that he is important, encourage¬†him, be kind, its a rough world and¬†he, like¬†everyone¬†else is fighting to survive. Be cheerful. don’t be a whiner.”

Isn’t she so funny. Jordan and I talk about this all the time. I am very lucky that Jordan and I have a very open relationship in the sense that we always tell each other how we feel. It might take me a couple days of stewing before I tell him, but I do eventually. We have a great friendship. We fight very openly and loudly but we cant stay mad at each other for very long. I love him and I am so proud of him and all that he has worked for.

“We women have a lot to learn about simplifying our lives. We have to decide¬†what¬†is¬†important¬†and¬†then¬†move along at a pace that is comfortable for us. we have to develop the maturity to stop trying to prove something. We have to learn to be content with what we are”

This one is great because this is something Jordan tells me all the time. I get in moods where I want everything to be perfect. I want our house to look  perfect, I want to change my hair, go get new clothes, shoes, makeup, takes a million pics, etc. But its so exhausting, and at the end of the day I accomplished nothing. I have nothing to prove. I am just a normal wife and mother who struggles sometimes with keeping my house clean, teaching my son to read, having a gourmet meal for Jordan when he gets home and putting myself together to look good for him when he gets home. Those things, I feel, make me happy and accomplished.
